What You Actually Get
The king bedroom has generous built-in robes and its own ensuite with dual rainforest shower heads — the kind of detail that makes a short stay feel less like a hotel. The queen bedroom has a 55″ Smart TV for movie nights or lazy mornings you’re not ready to get up for. The kitchen is properly equipped, with two ovens if you’re the type who actually cooks on holiday. There’s a compact dining setup for four that moves out to the balcony on a good day, and between the fireplace and the natural light, the whole place has a relaxed, easy feel rather than a showroom one. Split system heating and cooling cover the living area and main bedroom.
The Location, Without the Spin
You’re tucked into a quiet corner just off Chapel Street, which means you get the peace without giving up the convenience. Prahran Market, three supermarkets and a handful of cinemas are all a 5-minute walk. The Prahran Aquatic Centre, tennis courts and an open-air exercise precinct are two minutes away, and the Botanic Gardens, Albert Park Lake, Richmond, St Kilda and Toorak are all within a 15–20 minute stroll or tram ride. Chadstone’s a 15-minute drive if a big shopping day is on the cards.
Public transport here is about as good as Melbourne gets. The No. 6 tram gets you to the CBD via the Botanical Gardens, NGV and Flinders Street, and the No. 78 runs along Chapel Street to Richmond, Swan Street and Bridge Road — both stop right outside. Prahran and Windsor Stations are a 5-minute walk, and South Yarra Station is a short stroll up Chapel Street. Somehow it still feels like a private pocket surrounded by parks and greenery, despite being properly in the middle of things.
Where to Eat (We’ve Actually Been)
- Entrecote, Greville St — Prahran’s anchor restaurant. Proper steak frites, a wine list worth exploring, and a courtyard that’s one of the best outdoor dining spots in the inner south.
- Colonel Tan’s, Chapel St — bold Thai street food inside Revolver Upstairs, one of Melbourne’s most iconic live music venues.
- Hawker Hall — Peking-style roast duck, satay and dumplings, best with one of their handmade cocktails.
- Prahran Market — still the best starting point for produce, a coffee, and a proper weekend wander.
- Borsch, Vodka & Tears — Polish comfort food and a vodka list over 100 deep, for something genuinely different.
