StayCentral on Little Collins is in the middle of some of the best shopping, restaurants, cafes and bars in Australia. It is only a short walk from Chinatown. The tram stops are just 150m away and they head in three different directions, so you can easily go wherever you want. You can even enjoy a walk to some of the best-known sporting venues, markets and arts venues in the country. Everyday shops, services, banks & ATMS and all your everyday needs are catered for nearby.
Melbourne Central shopping centre, the Bourke Street Mall, Carlton Gardens and Melbourne Museum/IMAX theatre, Crown Casino and the aquarium are all within walking distance.
Inner Melbourne and the nearby Southbank Promenade are famous for their world-class restaurants and shops. In addition, there are multiple food outlets, buskers and arts & crafts events. Just south of the Casino is South Melbourne shopping strip, and the famous South Melbourne Markets, and at the western end of Little Collins St is the huge and famous DFO (Direct Factory Outlet).
Here are just a few examples of local attractions which are an easy walk or a very quick tram ride away:
Southbank and Southgate Promenade shops, restaurants and cafes; right on the river.
Southbank to Port Melbourne, South Melbourne or South Yarra – great for walking, jogging, bike riding or rollerblading. Southbank promenade forms part of the Capital City Bicycle Trail, which circles the Melbourne city centre and some inner eastern and northern suburbs. A popular starting point for the trail is at Princes Bridge near Flinders Street Station. Bikes can be hired near the boathouses east of the bridge.
The Yarra River is a great way to see the city and hear about its history. The Yarra River Cruises show you and tell you so much about the city.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
You are surrounded by trams on nearby Swanston, Collins and Bourke Streets, but you are already in the CBD, so you can walk to many places including Melbourne Central shopping complex nearby. Also, if you only travel on the trams within the city grid, it’s free, and you don’t need a Myki card.
GETTING THERE
It’s easy to get to StayCentral on Little Collins. From the airport, you can just take a taxi, Uber or Ola, or you can hop on the Skybus to Southern Cross Station. From there, it’s a short walk and a free tram ride up Collins St to Russell St, walk to the left half a block along Russell and turn left at Little Collins. The apartment is about half way down on the right hand side, just before Russell Lane.
